Yeah! Another Ang Pao! 20 Ringgit inside! This brings my total Ang Pao as of day two to 58 Ringgit. This morning at my Neighbour, Mr Chong's house was great fun. This neighbour of mine rarely has an open house for Chinese New Year, but when he does, there is always a Big Lion dance performance. He never fails to invite a large troupe at his house. This year, there were 18 lions and I don't know how many Unicorns. It was so cool. The dancing went on and on...It was so loud, and colourful. (Well duh, lion dance kan)

Well, after getting back from the neighbour's house, at roughly 12.00 pm, we went to the cinemas. We decided to watch GhostRider. It was playing at Cathay, Golden Screen and Groball (all of which we went to, to check out the screening times) and finally we decided to watch it at Cathay Cineplex at 2.00 pm. So to pass the time we went to KFC and tried out the Cheesy BBQ Toasted Tortillas. Not so nice. Anyway, we watched GhostRider and it was awesome!! Nicholas Cage is so hot!! The special effects were off the heezy! Man, that was a good movie. I bet there's gonna be a sequel, seing how the ending of this movie just screams for a continuation.
Yay! Yesterday was so much fun! I was at my neighbour's house for Chinese New Year from 12.00pm until 9.30 pm. Nine and a half hours. Well, that's actually shorter than before, but still, I had a lot of fun. Makan sampai 4 round..hahah. I'm ginna be so fat. Jamilah and Azreena were there too. In fact, they stayed on for longer than in previous years. I think Jamilah and Azreena didn't leave until like 8.00 pm.
Well, being there for nine and a half hours, I collected 5 Ang Paos. So, Total Ang Pao Money for Day One: 38 Ringgit. It's so weird you know, one Aunty gave me eight ringgit in an Ang Pao. What an unusual amount. But maybe it's a lucky number? I don't know. I was sitting next to Jamilah in the Music Room, when this Aunty suddenly came in and offered Jamilah an Ang Pao. She saw me sitting there and she said "Since you're here, I might as well give you one too. Do you want one?" And I was like "Yeah, I want!" Haha. It was so funny, because I said it in an overly enthusiastic tone.
There's one thing I learned yesterday though, which I think is pretty interesting. Yesterday, I didn't receive my Ang Pao from Aunty Betty in the afternoon, and when it was 5.00 pm and still I didn't get my Ang Pao, i voiced my concern to Jamilah. She said "Maybe she forgot. She forgot mine last night. You better go ask her for it."
Well, of course I didn't go ask her, I just couldn't. I thought it would be so...rude. Well, at least, awkward.
Then as the day went on, and as night crept in, Jamilah had left, Azrina had left, but still, I hadn't recieved my much anticipated Ang Pao from Aunty Betty. At this point I'm starting to get worried. What if she really forgot? I thought. So I talked to Shereen and she said, "If I were you, I would ask. Lama sudah I would ask." And I was like "Isn't that like bad manners?" And she told me it's not. In fact, she said that once, Aunty Betty pernah lupa her Ang Pao and her mother asked for it from Aunty Betty.
So, apparently, it is actually your right to recieve Ang Pao. That seems like quite an intersting idea to me. So I was going to ask her, because It was going to be 9.30 soon, and I was getting sleepy, so I thought I must ask her before I go home..if not I'll never have it, right? But then I decided to ask my sister whether she received hers. Well, lucky for me that I did, because apparently Aunty Betty had given the Ang Paos to our mother.
Dui...So bikin koyak only if I asked Aunty Betty for my Ang Pao...
Well, I had a lot of fun yesterday, and a lot of food too, haha. Anyway, I have to go now, my other neighbour is having an open house and I'm going there at 10.00 am.
I have to get ready now. I hope I get more Ang Pao...Maybe later today I'll go to all my chinese enighbour's house and see how much Ang Pao I get.
Happy Chinese New Year! And to all you chinese people (Lorenzo, Ameline - :p) Gong Xi Fa Cai! It's the Chinese New Year today and it's time to celebrate and usher in the Year of The Pig. Time to get into the festive mood and celebrate, enjoy the loud lion dances and enjoy scrumptious food, not to forget delight in receiving AngPao!!
I may not be Chinese, but I certainly love this time of year - the mandarin oranges, the tiny little oranges, the great fun at open houses, the delicious food and also, Ang Pao! Most of all, I just love going to my neighbour's house for Chinese New Year because it's always so fun. Every year We'll go there from noon till midnight. Or sometimes from dusk till nearly dawn. It's so frikkin fun! So many people, so much food, so much Ang Pao, it's just such a fun time. It's also so cool that Jamilah and Azreena are related to my neighbours so I always get to see them there every year.
And this year, my neighbours Mr. Patrick Teo and Aunty Betty (The owners of CP Chicken Rice - So Delicious!) have really gone over the top. I mean! They have like a huge tent up and it protrudes outside their gate! It's HUGE. And so brightly coloured with Red and Orange drapes. Macam orang mahu kahwin bah!
Anyway, since Chinese New Year is such a big thing for me, I decided to have some fun and dye my hair red. Well, It didn't turn out like I hoped it would, but I expected as much anyway. I had dyed my hair black earlier this year (back to school, kan) so on Friday when I dyed it red, the colour was only deposited in the hair near the roots. The tips are still black. But hey, I guess it looks kinda OK.
On the left are pictures taken on the second day after dying my hair, so my scalp looks a bit red....Zeff said it's scary, like I'm bleeding.
Well, enough about my hair, it's 11.33 right now, and I really should go and get myself ready. I'll be headed to my neighbour's house soon, and I have to change and all that.
I hope to take some nice pictures today, maybe I'll post them on VOX tomorrow.
